This official website has received since its opening last 2nd September requests for tickets from the five continents to assist directly to the revenge between the two living chess legends, leaders of one of the biggest and most exciting duels in sports history during the times they played for the world’s title.
Karpov and Kasparov’s rivalry is so in use that they are going to stay at distant hotels not to see each other before the match and they are going to enter the playing room with different lifts. The meeting between them has caused big expectancy between both the specialized chess world and the general public, because it’s an event which, following to the organization, goes beyond the bounds of chess. In fact, from ‘Valencia, cuna del ajedrez moderno' they are surpsised of the receiving of this proposal, which confirms the city as venue of big events.
“We knew Karpov and Kasparov are two of the most important sportsmen and that the repercussion of bringing them together 25 years later was going to be very big, but certainly, the public has understood the importance of the match and is conscious that it’s maybe the last chance to see together and live two big sports legends.”, affirm the organizers. They also inform that they have already processed tickets for the five countries. “In general, we have requests from almost all parts of Spain, but what is most astonishing is the number of applications we are receving from abroad”.
Even there are still available tickets for sale after extending the seating capacity at the incomparable Palau de les Arts, the organization of ‘Valencia, cuna del ajedrez moderno' is considering seriously the possibility of the tickets being sold out before the match starts next September 21st , because it’s completely sure that the capacity isn’t going to be modified.
In the same way, the requests of the media which are accredited for the event show the big repercussion of it. Televisions, radios and newspapers from the whole world are going to send special reporters to cover the event. The countries with the most coverage are Ukraine, France, Argentina, Germany or Mexico, besides Spain.
